Sudanese Man Arrested Outside Athens Police HQ with Grenades

A Sudanese man was arrested outside the Athens General Police Directorate (GADA) on March 6th, in possession of two defensive grenades. The man threatened to detonate himself.
According to police, the arrested man has a history with law enforcement, with 15 arrests for various offenses. Most arrests involved violations of immigration laws and drug-related offenses. He has also been arrested for attempted theft and violation of weapons laws.
The Sudanese man claimed he found the grenades in a Tupperware container in a grove near the Acropolis, an area reportedly frequented by drug addicts. He had been released from prison on March 3, 2026.
