Atromitos President Vasilis Betsis Arrested for Flares

The president of Atromitos, Vasilis Betsis, was arrested on Saturday following a police search at the Peristeri stadium. According to the police, flares, firecrackers, and poles were found in a locked area.
The Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Sports Violence had received reports of trafficking and storage of illegal items at the stadium.
During the search, in the presence of a judicial official, 17 flares, a projectile launcher, 7 poles, 3 helmets, sprays, masks, and clothing of other teams were confiscated.
Vasilis Betsis is expected to be brought before the Athens Court of First Instance Prosecutor on 19/10/2025.
PAE Atromitos issued a statement claiming that the arrest was unfair, as the findings were located in an area outside the stadium, for which the team bears no responsibility. PAE expresses its full support for the president.
