Vasilis Paiteris Arrested for Debts Exceeding €500,000

Well-known singer Vasilis Paiteris has been arrested for debts exceeding €500,000 owed to the state.

He is currently detained at the General Police Directorate of Attica (GADA) and is awaiting transfer to Larissa prison. The arrest occurred during a traffic stop while he was heading to the Gyaliano Music Theatre for a rehearsal with Sabrina.

The 75-year-old artist had been convicted of urban planning violations in Agia Varvara. He attempted to settle his debts, but the installment of €8,000 proved unsustainable. He had served part of his sentence with community service in the municipalities of Palaio Faliro and Ilion.

The inability to make payments led to the issuance of an arrest warrant and his transfer to Larissa prison.
