Thessaloniki: 40-year-old accused of dog abuse at campsite

A 40-year-old man faces charges of severely abusing his dog at an organized campsite in Asprovalta, Thessaloniki. According to a complaint, the man was violently hitting the animal on the head and body.

The incident was witnessed by a woman, who reported it to the police. In her testimony, she stated that the 40-year-old was hitting his dog because it barked. "The animal was crying, and he wouldn't stop hitting it," she said.

The defendant, a Danish national, denied the charges, claiming that he loves the animal and has never abused it. The trial was adjourned to November to allow for a veterinary expert opinion to be presented.
