Thessaloniki: Jail for Threatening His Mother

A man in Thessaloniki was sentenced to 12 months in prison by the Thessaloniki Misdemeanor Court for domestic threat. He threatened to kill his mother because she refused to give him money to go out.

The mother testified that she had repeatedly suffered abusive behavior from her son, including physical assaults. The court ordered the immediate serving of the sentence.

The incident occurred when the defendant demanded more money from his mother, who had already given him 450 euros within a week. When she refused, he threatened her.

The defendant admitted to threatening his mother but claimed he did so "theoretically." The prosecutor emphasized that the defendant had repeatedly created problems of domestic violence.
