Teenager Dies in Crete Road Accident - Supervisor Arrested

A 17-year-old has tragically died in a road accident on the Northern Road Axis of Crete (VOAK). The accident occurred when the truck he was driving veered off course on the Agia Pelagia - Fodele section.

The 17-year-old, identified as Giorgos, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which fell into a ditch. While attempting to regain control, the truck overturned, resulting in his fatal injury. Reports indicate that the teenager was not wearing a seatbelt.

Road resurfacing works were underway at the accident site. The project supervisor has been arrested, as the necessary permits for the work were allegedly not in place.

The funeral of the young victim will be held on Tuesday at 17:00 at the Church of Panagia in Ano Archanes, Heraklion, Crete.
