Dangerous 'Devil's Well' in Vouliagmeni: Diver Missing

A major rescue operation is underway to locate a 34-year-old diver missing in the 'Devil's Well,' an underwater sinkhole in the Vouliagmeni harbor.

The site, known for its strong currents and underwater tunnels, poses a challenge to divers. The well has a diameter of 3 meters and a depth of 11 meters.

In 1978, two American soldiers were lost while trying to explore the area. Their remains were found only in 2007, confirming the dangers of the well.

The well has protective railings and a buoy, but many divers have attempted to explore the tunnel, which reaches a depth of 150 meters and possibly connects to Lake Vouliagmeni.
