Tragedy on Egnatia Odos: Two Dead in Car Accident

Two people died in successive car accidents on the Egnatia Odos highway, near the Dodoni tunnel, on Saturday, March 28. One of the dead was a co-driver, and the other was an Egnatia Odos employee who was hit while providing assistance.

According to reports, a car collided with a truck, possibly due to hail. Subsequently, a second vehicle hit the company employee, who was fatally injured. The co-driver of the car that hit the employee is also dead.

EKAB forces responded to the scene with three ambulances. The injured were taken to the General Hospital of Ioannina "G. Hatzikostas." The exact causes of the accident are being investigated by the authorities.

Executives of "Nea Egnatia Odos A.E." expressed their sadness about the incident.

Traffic towards Igoumenitsa has been restored.
