Tragedy on Egnatia Odos: 54-Year-Old Worker Killed

A 54-year-old employee of the company «Νέα Εγνατία Οδός» died on the Egnatia Odos highway after being hit by a passing vehicle. The accident occurred while the worker was placing cones to block off an area where a fatal traffic accident had previously occurred.

According to the Hellenic Police (ELAS), the incident happened at the 59th kilometer of the Egnatia Odos, in the direction towards Igoumenitsa. A 78-year-old driver hit the 54-year-old, who was on the road making warning signals. The driver's 73-year-old wife was also in the vehicle and lost her life as well.

The 54-year-old had worked for years in the Egnatia Odos assistance vehicles. The causes of the accident are being investigated by the Ioannina Traffic Police.
