The 40-year-old perpetrator of the murder in Volos was arrested close to the house where he committed the murder of his wife. The parricide was hiding in an abandoned plot that previously operated as an open-air parking lot.

According to reports, a local resident found the 40-year-old sleeping behind bushes and notified the police. Strong police forces rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area, and immobilized him. The perpetrator did not resist and was visibly distressed.

Eyewitnesses reported that during his arrest, the 40-year-old shouted to the police that he killed his wife because she was cheating on him. During the night, the police had received reports of a suspicious person in the area around the house, but were unable to locate him.

From early in the morning, police forces were reinforced outside the family's house, where the four children remain. Police authorities considered it likely that the perpetrator was trying to return to the house, explaining the close distance in which he was hiding.

According to the children's testimonies, their father had a drug problem and was obsessed with the idea that their mother was having an affair. This seems to have been the reason for the intense argument that led to the murder. As the children testified, it all started when their father saw their mother using her mobile phone. The family had only one phone due to financial difficulties.

The 40-year-old was found 400 meters from his home, just a 5-minute walk away.
