Chania: Infant Falls from Balcony – Intubated in ICU

A one-year-old infant fell from a balcony in the Gerani area of the Municipality of Platanias, in Chania.

The infant, under unclear circumstances, escaped the attention of its 17-year-old mother and fell.

It was transferred in a comatose state to Chania Hospital and then to the Pediatric ICU of PAGNI in Heraklion, due to the severity of its injuries.

As stated by the Deputy Commander of PAGNI, Stelios Kteniadakis, the child is hospitalized in serious condition with multiple injuries.

Police arrested the mother for endangerment but she was released.

The Sub-Directorate of Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes of Chania is conducting a preliminary investigation.
