Kasta Tomb Enhancement: Museum and Accessibility in Amphipolis

Restoration and enhancement works continue at the Kasta Tomb in Amphipolis, with a total budget exceeding 10,000,000 euros. The project is funded by the Regional Operational Program of Central Macedonia- ESPA 2021-2027 and national resources of the Ministry of Culture.

The works include the implementation of routes and visitor reception infrastructure, the construction of a museum space, and the configuration of the exhibition area. Simultaneously, the project to stabilize the perimeter of the burial monument is underway.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the public reception and information infrastructure, such as visitor routes, viewing platforms, parking area, and digital applications, will offer a complete experience of the monument in combination with the natural environment and the historical landscape of Amphipolis.

The exhibition space will house architectural members that are kept in the Archaeological Museum of Amphipolis, such as the door of the burial chamber and parts of the upper ends of the 'Caryatids'. The exhibition will be accessible to all, including people with disabilities.

Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni stated that the Kasta Tomb is a monument of great historical and archaeological value and that the project will strengthen visitor interest in the archaeological site of Amphipolis.
