Actors' and Musicians' Strike: Theaters Closed on December 27th
Share on:

Theaters will remain closed on Saturday, December 27th, due to a strike announced by the Hellenic Actors' Union (S.E.H.), in which the Panhellenic Music Association is also participating.

The strike is in demand of the signing of a Collective Labor Agreement in the independent theater sector. The S.E.H. reports that the December 5th strike had massive participation, reaching 97% of theaters.

The Panhellenic Theatre Association (PETH) protests the decision to strike, especially during the holiday season, and accuses the S.E.H. of lies and populism, claiming that most of the actors' terms have been accepted.

The differences between the two sides lie in the payment regime for rehearsals, the amount of remuneration for new actors, and the regime that will apply to small theaters with fewer than 100 seats.

Citizens who had booked tickets for the performances of December 27th can proceed with their replacement.
