Dormition of Mary: Devotion at Panagia Soumela – Crowds of faithful from all over Greece

Crowds of faithful flocked to Panagia Soumela in Kastania, Imathia, for the celebration of the Dormition of Mary. A festive hierarchical concelebration took place, with the Metropolitan of Veria, Kampania and Naousa Panteleimon presiding.

The president of the "Panagia Soumela" Association, Giorgos Tanimanidis, awarded an excellent student in memory of the victims of the Tempi train accident in 2003. This was followed by the laying of a wreath at the monument of Alexander Ypsilantis and a procession of the icon.

The events were attended by the Deputy Minister of Development Lazaros Tsavdaridis, the Deputy Minister of Interior Kostas Gioulekas, members of parliament and representatives of the Security Forces.

In Siatista, Kozani, the traditional horsemen's parade took place. Metropolitan Philotheos of Thessaloniki presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Panorama.
