Musical Schools in Greece to be Reinforced with New Instruments and Equipment

The Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports is proceeding with the replacement and upgrading of musical instruments and related equipment in all Music Schools in the country, for the first time since 2008.
Through an international tender, with a budget of 10 million euros, musical instruments of all kinds, traditional and non-traditional, will be purchased, such as tambouras, lyres, ouds, lutes, violins, cellos, classical & electric guitars, electric pianos, flutes, saxophones, trumpets, and vibraphones. In addition, the necessary equipment such as footrests, wall and floor stands, orchestra - instrument stands, tuners and metronomes will also be purchased.
In the 52 Music Schools across the country, a total of 9,932 students attended last year.
The Minister, Sofia Zacharaki, stated that the upgrading of equipment is a substantial intervention and that music schools are an institution with a valuable mission in public education.
In 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, the Music Schools were respectively reinforced with music technology and sound recording equipment.
The funding of the program is part of the priority axis of the National Development Program (EPA) 2021-2025 for the development and modernization of education infrastructure.
