Greek National Opera: Modern Donizetti's 'Anna Bolena'

The Greek National Opera presents a modern version of Donizetti's opera 'Anna Bolena', premiering on March 26. The production, under the musical direction of Zac Lacombe and directed by Themelis Glynatsis, aims to highlight the timelessness of the work.
The opera, which premiered in 1830, tells the story of Anna Bolena's last days in the court of Henry VIII. The story includes passions, political intrigues, and betrayals. Maria Kosovitsa will appear in the role of Anna Bolena.
Themelis Glynatsis notes that the performance focuses on the conflicts of different versions of historicity. Nikos Georgiadis's costumes from 1976 are revived in a new set design created by Leslie Travers.
The leading roles also include Petros Magoulas (Henry VIII), Miranda Makrynioti (Giovanna Seymour), Giannis Christopoulos (Lord Riccardo Percy), Giannis Giannisis (Lord Rochefort), Diamanti Kritsotaki (Smeton) and Manos Kokkonis (Sir Hervey).
