Proposals to strengthen the audiovisual sector in Greece

Greek filmmakers have submitted proposals to strengthen the audiovisual sector, focusing on problems with the cash rebate and the need for a comprehensive national strategy.
At a press conference of the initiative "Cinema in Greece - Visibility Zero," supported by 2,385 professionals, three main requests were presented:
- Increase the annual funding of selective programs to 15,000 euros.
- Ensuring the effectiveness of the cash rebate, by solving funding problems from the ESPA.
- Staffing EKOME with accomplished professionals.
Filmmakers are asking for an increase in selective programs instead of the cash rebate, as the former is the basis for attracting funding. They also propose supporting Greek documentaries with a percentage allocation of 30% of the total budget of selective programs.
Regarding the cash rebate, problems such as the indiscriminate inclusion of foreign invoices and the soaring costs were highlighted, which worked to the detriment of Greek cinema.
