12 Measures to Reduce Bureaucracy in Greece

The Governmental Council for Economic Policy, under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has approved 12 interventions aimed at reducing bureaucracy and boosting entrepreneurship.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that the government has already achieved measurable results in various sectors since 2019.

The measures include:

  1. Eliminating overlaps in data between ΤτΕ (Bank of Greece) and GEMI (General Commercial Registry).
  2. Upgrading the electronic licensing system.
  3. Simplifying the business closure process.
  4. Improving the framework for Research and Technology expenses.
  5. Consolidating consumer protection legislation.
  6. Abolishing the industrial movement bulletin.
  7. Simplifying the modernization process for manufacturing facilities.
  8. Improving the framework for Single Large Unit Business Parks (ΕΠΜΜΜ).
  9. Expanding industries to adjacent properties.
  10. Resolving land classification issues for industrial facilities.
  11. Enabling the consolidation of plots in Business Park development areas.
  12. Improving access for industrial plots to road networks.

Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis emphasized that significant steps have been taken to support entrepreneurship over the past six years, with reductions in taxes and insurance contributions.

The Minister of Development mentioned that a bill to simplify economic activities will be discussed in late August.
