According to Alpha Bank, 2025 was a landmark year for tourism, with Greece recording historically high performance. International travel arrivals exceeded pre-pandemic levels, reaching €1.52 billion.
In the period January-November 2025, travel arrivals reached 36.7 million tourists and revenues amounted to €23 billion, exceeding the performance of 2024. Arrivals and revenues increased from the five main tourist markets: Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, France and the USA. The average expenditure per trip approached €600.
Greece is among the top choices for travel in Western European markets, according to a study by INSETE. The transition to a sustainable development model and addressing challenges such as seasonality and labor shortages are important for the further development of the sector.
