Greece: Primary Surplus of €8.7 Billion in Eight Months

Greece recorded a primary surplus of €8.696 billion in the period January–August 2025, according to data released on Monday by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance.
The result exceeded the target of €4.929 billion and is higher than the corresponding surplus of €7.567 billion in 2024.
The budget's net revenues amounted to €48.459 billion, an increase of €185 million compared to the target. Tax revenues totaled €46.596 billion, exceeding the target by €2.119 billion.
Revenue refunds amounted to €6.181 billion.
On the expenditure side, the budget showed reduced payments of €3.356 billion compared to the target, while expenditures increased by €2.210 billion compared to 2024, reaching €46.299 billion.
The Ministry points out that the data concerns the primary result of the Central Administration.
