Greek households experience the highest level of financial stress among 35 OECD countries, according to a study by Compare the Price. High housing costs and low wages are the main sources of this stress.

Greece scores 41.05, ranking lowest among OECD countries. Greece's ranking has worsened in recent years, from third place in 2021 to second in 2023.

According to the study, the average salary in Greece is €26,307, while the monthly rent is €995 and monthly expenses are approximately €2,743.

Following Greece, the countries with the highest financial stress are Colombia, Mexico, and Costa Rica.

The country with the least financial pressure is Belgium, thanks to high salaries and reasonable rental prices.
