Vacation Bonus: Payment Date, Amount, and Calculation

The vacation bonus for private sector employees is expected to increase this year. Eligible employees earning the minimum wage will receive 589.41 euros, up from 556.05 euros last year. The bonus amount cannot exceed half a month's salary for those paid monthly, and 13 daily wages for those paid daily.

According to legislation, the vacation bonus must be paid in advance at the start of the leave. The employer must approve the leave request within two months of submission. If leave is not granted in a timely manner, the employee is entitled to double vacation pay, without doubling the bonus.

Employees can calculate their bonus amount through the online application of KEPEA. Leave entitlement is based on the calendar year, and employees are entitled to a pro-rata leave from their first year of employment.
