Greece is strengthening its role as an energy hub for Europe, with clear support from the US. The goal is for Greece to become a gateway for importing American LNG via the Vertical Corridor to Ukraine.

US Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum, visited Greece and met with Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou and businessmen such as Giorgos Peristeris (GEK TERNA) and Giorgos Stassis (DEH), to discuss strengthening LNG imports and infrastructure development.

Chevron's entry, through a partnership with Helleniq Energy, for research south of the Peloponnese and Crete, increases the chances of discovering new deposits and strengthens Greece's deterrent power.

Stavros Papastavrou emphasized that in 2025, 81% of LNG imports will come from the USA.
