INTERCARGO Celebrates 45th Anniversary in Greece

The International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners (INTERCARGO) celebrated its 45th anniversary with an event at Astir Palace in Vouliagmeni, Greece.
The event gathered international representatives of the shipping industry. INTERCARGO's chairman, Giannis Xylas, spoke about the association's evolution since its founding in 1980 by Antonis Chandris.
Today, INTERCARGO has over 380 members in more than 35 countries, representing over 4,400 dry cargo ships, approximately 40% of the global bulk carrier fleet.
Mr. Xylas emphasized INTERCARGO's commitment to safety, quality, efficiency, environmental responsibility, and fair treatment of seafarers, as well as the challenges of decarbonization and digitalization.
The choice of Greece for the celebration highlighted the country's contribution to international dry cargo shipping.
