Wine: 20-Year Low in Production for 2024/25

European viticulture faces challenges, with EU wine production hitting a 20-year low for the 2024/25 season. According to the Commission, production is expected to fall by 5% compared to last year, reaching 137 million hectoliters.
Reasons for the decline: Adverse weather conditions in France (-25%), Germany (-11%), and Portugal (-8%). In contrast, Italy (+15%) and Spain (+10%) show an increase.
Greece: Greek production reached 1,430,666 hectoliters, the second lowest of all time after 2023/24. Production is not sufficient to cover domestic needs.
Prices & Trade: Producer prices are showing an upward trend. EU wine exports decreased by 3%, while consumption is steadily declining.
