Mitsotakis: Greece Considers Nuclear Energy

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that Greece is considering including nuclear energy in its energy mix, despite not being a nuclear energy producing country. The statement was made on the sidelines of the nuclear energy summit in Paris.
K. Mitsotakis recalled that Greece had the opportunity to turn to nuclear energy since the 1970s, but chose other sources. He noted that Greece has invested in renewable energy sources and is an electricity exporter.
The Prime Minister stressed Europe's need for nuclear energy and welcomed French investments. He also mentioned that countries that had abandoned nuclear energy are returning to it. He proposed an objective dialogue on the integration of nuclear energy into Greek energy policy, taking into account scientific research and European know-how.
Finally, Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to the role of nuclear energy in reducing carbon dioxide emissions in international shipping.
