The Panhellenic Seamen's Federation (PENEN) has announced a new 24-hour strike on passenger-vehicle ferries operating on the Patras - Igoumenitsa - Italy line.

The strike began at 06:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, and will last until the same time on Tuesday, June 24.

This mobilization is a continuation of PENEN's strike actions, which have now reached their 8th day. The seafarers declare their determination to continue their struggle until their demands are met.

During the strike assembly, PENEN submitted a modified proposal to the Association of Passenger Shipping Companies (SEEN).

According to PENEN's announcement, the new 24-hour strike was not challenged in court by SEEN and the shipping companies. In addition, the withdrawal of the ban on the entry of the PENEN president to the port of Patras and the striking ships was announced.

The PENEN administration has officially announced the number and names of the security personnel who will supervise the process during the strike.
