New Support Measures: Subsidies for diesel, fertilizers, and benefits for tenants, pensioners

The government is announcing a new support package worth half a billion euros, focusing on subsidies for diesel fuel and fertilizers. Additionally, measures are being considered to support tenants and low-income pensioners, potentially by extending or increasing the subsidies granted in November.

Eurostat is expected to validate the Greek economy's primary surplus for 2025, estimated at €12 billion, exceeding the budget target by €2.5 billion. The Maximos Mansion will announce immediate interventions of half a billion euros, utilizing part of the surplus.

The Ministry of National Economy and Finance will specify the measures, which will include temporary solutions for immediate implementation and permanent benefits, aiming to alleviate citizens from high prices and the housing crisis. Revised forecasts for the economy up to 2029 will also be presented.

Furthermore, an extension of the diesel fuel subsidy is being considered in May, aiming to contain transport costs.
