The government is launching a plan to restructure the water sector in Greece, aiming to improve management and address water scarcity.

The plan includes the creation of three strong water and sewerage entities across the country: EYDAP, EYATH, and a new corporation that will operate as an umbrella for the 730 existing local water management bodies (DEYA, TOEB, GOEB, etc.).

The new strategy aims to address deficient management, outdated infrastructure, and fragmented responsibilities. It is also expected to bring increases in water tariffs.

Greece ranks 19th worldwide in terms of water scarcity risk, with water reserves in Attica significantly reduced.
