New Transport Law Approved: Changes to Public Transport, Taxis, and Vehicle Inspections

A bill by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to modernize transport has been approved. The Deputy Minister of Transport, Konstantinos Kyranakis, presented the changes in Parliament.

The bill includes changes to urban transport, taxis, vehicle inspection centers (KTEO), fines, and environmental controls.

Penalties for Municipalities that do not maintain bus stops and an increase in fines for those traveling without a ticket.

O.S.Y. S.A. will be able to train prospective bus drivers. Perpetrators of damage to public transport can be required to perform community service.

The fine for not holding a ticket increases to 100 euros. Penalties for attacks on inspectors are tightened.

Regulations for the taxi sector, with the possibility of replacing paper licenses with digital licenses. Mandatory emission controls for particulate matter in diesel vehicles are established.
