The Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, stated that Greece is at the center of international energy developments, ahead of a conference in Athens. According to Mr. Papastavrou, the presence of American officials is a message of confidence in the Greek government.

The minister mentioned that there will be discussions on new investments in pipelines and liquefied natural gas (LNG) stations, and did not rule out the possibility of announcing agreements with American participation on November 7. Greece already has Revythousa and Alexandroupolis and is considering the creation of a third LNG station.

Mr. Papastavrou emphasized the importance of exploiting the country's natural resources through drilling, as well as energy interconnections with Egypt and Cyprus. Regarding projects to address water scarcity, he mentioned that a significant part of the funding comes from the European Commission and the EIB.

He also announced mergers of local water supply organizations and the expansion of EYDAP and EYATH in various regions. Regarding electricity, he noted that Greece remains below the European average price.

Finally, ahead of the Council of Environment Ministers, he stated that Greece will support the goals for reducing gas emissions, while requesting flexibilities.
