Minister of Economy Kyriakos Pierrakakis emphasized the importance of Thessaloniki in the Greek economy during a special event for projects in the city and Northern Greece.

Mr. Pierrakakis referred to the decision of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to locate its international supply chain management center in the city, covering Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. He considered this choice as an indication of the major changes taking place in the city.

In addition, he mentioned the technological investments of companies such as Pfizer, the Thess INTEC technology park under construction, as well as the ministry's programs that support infrastructure with increases in the Public Investment Program (PIP) and the 5 billion euros from the ESPA 2021-2027 for Northern Greece.

Ahead of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's announcements at the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair (DETH), Mr. Pierrakakis did not reveal details about the measures but emphasized the government's commitment to convergence with Europe and the release of the country's potential.

Regarding the Greek economy, Mr. Pierrakakis noted the great qualitative change since 2019, with debt reduction, surplus creation, a drop in unemployment to 7.9%, and the creation of half a million jobs.
