Pensions: How do retirees live on €940 net?

Data from the "Helios" system reveal that the majority of pensioners in Greece live on incomes of marginal adequacy. More than half of pensioners have a monthly income of less than €940, and there are significant inequalities between the private and public sectors.
According to the data, 2,517,615 pensioners receive an average of €794.5 net per month, an amount corresponding to a gross income of €845.62. However, approximately 916,500 beneficiaries receive up to €658 net, and almost 1.4 million are limited to amounts up to €940. In addition, 453,640 people, mainly recipients of disability pensions and uninsured elderly, survive on monthly incomes of up to €470.
The data paints a picture of a pressing financial situation for the elderly in Greece.
