Bank of Greece: Slight Decrease in Interest Rate Spread in June

A slight decrease was observed in the spread between interest rates on new loans and deposits in June, according to data from the Bank of Greece (ΤτΕ).
Specifically, the spread was at 4.27%. The average weighted interest rate on new deposits remained almost unchanged at 0.34%, while the corresponding interest rate on new loans decreased to 4.61%.
In more detail, the average interest rate on overnight deposits from households remained unchanged at 0.03%, while the corresponding interest rate on deposits from businesses remained almost unchanged at 0.13%.
The average interest rate on consumer loans with no specified duration increased by 7 basis points to 14.68%. The average interest rate on mortgage loans with a floating rate decreased by 5 basis points to 3.52%.
Regarding existing balances, the average weighted interest rate on existing loans decreased by 17 basis points to 4.78%.
