Empty Athens in August: Photos and videos from the city center

The center of Athens is noticeably emptier as many residents are on vacation in August or have left for the Dormition of Virgin Mary holiday weekend. The streets are quiet with few cars and pedestrians, mainly tourists unaffected by the heat.

Most have left the city for islands, villages, or places where the Dormition of Virgin Mary is celebrated.
