Curfew in Kassandra Areas Due to Fire Risk

A curfew will be implemented in areas of Kassandra, Halkidiki, due to an increased risk of fire. The curfew will be in effect from Saturday, June 28 at 8 a.m. to Sunday, June 29 at 8 a.m.
The decision by the Deputy Regional Governor prohibits the passage, stay, and movement of people and vehicles in NATURA areas, forest ecosystems, parks, and groves. The ban specifically concerns the Kassandra Peninsula ('Koryfografi' - from Kassandrino to Agia Paraskevi, 'Arapis' and 'Chalkovouni' in Paliouri).
Control points will be monitored by the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) and anyone found in the forest will be removed, except for volunteer fire protection organizations. Vehicle license plates will be recorded. Violators will be punished with an administrative fine of €300.
