Ferry Ban in Greece Due to Strong Winds

A ferry ban is in effect in various ports of Greece due to strong winds. Thousands of travelers have been affected as ferry routes have been delayed or canceled.
Specifically, the ban affects the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, and Lavrio. Routes from Piraeus to the Cyclades have been postponed until at least 13:00, while the ban does not apply to ships in the Saronic Gulf.
According to meteorologists, the winds will reach up to 9 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea, causing problems for ferry routes over the long weekend. The Risk Assessment Committee convened urgently under the Secretary General of Civil Protection, Nikos Papaefstathiou, predicting northerly winds of 8 Beaufort, with gusts up to 9, in the eastern mainland, central and southern Aegean, and Crete.
In addition, due to the strong winds, the Municipality of Athens decided to close the National Garden to the public.
