Athens: A Year's Worth of Rain in 4 Months

Rainfall equivalent to a year's worth in Attica fell in just four months, according to data from Meteo/National Observatory of Athens.
January was characterized by particularly high rainfall, with Theodoriana Artas recording the highest monthly rainfall at 890 mm. In the wider region of Epirus, from October 2025 to January 2026, rainfall exceeded 2000 mm in some areas.
In Athens, the total rainfall for January 2026 was 133.6 mm, about 50% higher than the average climate value. Over the past four months, the total rainfall is almost equal to the average annual rainfall.
Lower rainfall was recorded in Thessaly, Central Macedonia, and Eastern Crete.
