Attica: Inspections Begin After Deadly Severe Weather

Inspections are beginning in Attica following the devastating severe weather that struck the region, leaving behind two fatalities and significant damage to infrastructure and property.
The severe weather, which hit Attica on Wednesday (21/1), caused incalculable damage to buildings and infrastructure. The highest rainfall amounts were recorded in Papagou, Glyfada, Nomismatokopio, Chalandri, Vyronas, Ilioupoli, Marousi, and Drosia.
The intensity of the phenomena resulted in the formation of torrents that swept away everything in their path, while roads suffered serious damage. In Ano Glyfada, a 56-year-old woman lost her life.
The Fire Department received over 900 calls for assistance and carried out approximately 320 water pumping operations. Civil protection services, fire brigades, and volunteer corps worked to address the consequences of the floods.
Today, Friday, a meeting is scheduled in Vari under the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Climate Crisis Kostas Katsafados to determine the next actions. At the same time, inspections are beginning to compensate those affected.
