Patras-Pyrgos Highway: Section Opens to Traffic

Today, Friday, August 1, 2025, a section of the Patras-Pyrgos highway is opening to traffic, specifically 65 km out of the total 74.8 km project, from Pyrgos to Alissos, near Patras. The inauguration was held yesterday by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The remaining 10 km to Mintilogli are expected to be delivered by the end of November. With this new section, the Patras-Pyrgos route will be covered in 45 minutes via Olympia Odos, while the Athens-Pyrgos journey will take approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas stated that the highway is a project of national importance, emphasizing the positive effects on road safety and local development. Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Nikos Tahiaos mentioned that the completion of the project was made possible thanks to its inclusion in the Olympia Odos concession.
The Regional Governor of Western Greece, Nektarios Farmakis, highlighted the importance of the project for the safety of travel. The General Secretary of Infrastructure Dimitris Anagnostopoulos referred to the technical details of the project, which includes 11 bridges and 9 junctions.
