A general blackout in communication between aircraft and airports within the Athens FIR has caused significant delays and cancellations at Heraklion's "Nikos Kazantzakis" airport.

Three flights have been canceled, specifically to Rhodes, Athens, and Munich, with delays of at least four hours. A morning flight to Athens, scheduled for 9 a.m., departed with a 3.5-hour delay.

A flight to Munich, originally scheduled for 13:10, has been rescheduled for tomorrow morning.

In total, 25 flights affected from Heraklion involve destinations such as Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes, and Munich. Despite the gradual normalization since noon, passengers are facing inconvenience, with many missing connections to international destinations via Athens.

Heraklion Airport handles approximately 25 departures and landings daily during this period, compared to nearly 400 during the summer months.
