Special Team from Athens to Remove 40-Ton Rock in Katakolo

A special team from Athens is in Katakolo to remove a 40-ton rock that detached following a landslide. The operation is being carried out with increased safety measures, as there is a risk of the rock falling on homes.
According to patrisnews, the rock was temporarily held by an olive tree trunk, increasing the danger. A large crack has also been discovered in the mountain.
Ten homes have been evacuated as a precaution. The operation includes two phases: securing the rock and its final removal, possibly with a controlled explosion or fragmentation.
