Alert in Greece: New Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Case

An alert has been issued in Greece following a new case of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever. A 70-year-old farmer from Elassona recently died from the disease after being bitten by a tick.
According to EODY, a new case involves a 54-year-old doctor who is believed to have contracted the virus while treating the farmer. The doctor remains in isolation with a fever at the University Hospital of Larissa, where all necessary measures have been taken.
EODY has initiated contact tracing of the farmer's contacts, categorizing them by risk level. Medium and high-risk contacts will be monitored for 14 days. Disinfection of the livestock unit is also expected.
Symptoms of the disease include fever, chills, headache, muscle pain, and can develop into more serious conditions. Local farmers are requesting information on necessary protective measures.
