Athens Opens Seven Air-Conditioned Spaces Due to Heatwave

The Municipality of Athens is opening seven air-conditioned spaces from today, July 21st, to protect citizens from the prolonged heatwave. The Friendship Clubs will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Friendship Clubs operating as air-conditioned spaces are:

  • Friendship Club of Agios Pavlos (Mamouri 22 & Dymis, tel: 210 8223946)
  • Friendship Club "The Ascension of the Lord" Neos Kosmos (Heldreich 15, tel: 210 9240403)
  • Friendship Club of Votanikos (Kozanis 4, tel: 210 3423716)
  • Friendship Club of Kolokynthos (Aimonos 9 & Astrous, tel: 210 5140877)
  • Friendship Club of Agios Eleftherios (Acharnon 372, tel: 210 2012334)
  • Friendship Club of Kypseli (Skyrou & Kaukasou, tel: 210 8815877)
  • Friendship Club of Ampelokipi (Panormou & Vatheos, tel: 210 6459890)

Citizens can contact the 24-hour Citizen Service Line 1595 or 2105287800. For medical advice, the "Heatwave Line" of the Multipurpose Municipal Clinics operates at 210 3638049.

In addition, the Municipality of Athens has taken measures to protect the homeless and stray animals.
