Fatal Accident on Egnatia Odos: Sound Engineer Dead

A tragic workplace accident occurred on Saturday morning on the Egnatia Odos, claiming the life of a 51-year-old sound engineer. Another 21-year-old colleague is hospitalized.

The accident happened when the van driven by the 51-year-old, which was carrying professional audio equipment, veered off course shortly before the "Strata" area and crashed into the protective barriers. There are skid marks on the road, but it has not been clarified whether they came from the van.

Nasos Iliopoulos, from Nea Aristera, stated that the unions report that the 51-year-old sound engineer died after a car accident and another colleague was seriously injured. The unions demand that working hours be checked and whether the necessary rest periods were observed.

The unions STAZOE and SETTH issued a statement, expressing their condolences and demanding that the incident be clarified and responsibilities assigned. They also call for immediate intervention from the Ministry of Labor and the Independent Labor Inspection Authority to investigate whether working hours were observed and whether there was sufficient rest time.
