Evros: Villagers Rebuild Home for Fire-Affected Farmer

Villagers and members of a cultural association in Evros, Greece, raised funds and rebuilt a home for farmer Christoforos Panagiotidis, whose house was destroyed by the fires of August 2023 in Kirki.
Mr. Panagiotidis, who migrated to the area from the Caucasus 30 years ago, saw his house completely destroyed. Following fundraising and efforts by the residents of Kirki, the house was rebuilt.
"I will be able to live again, to dream," said Mr. Panagiotidis, thanking those who helped. The president of the Kirki cultural association, Vasiliki Pantelidou, emphasized that "solidarity builds houses, indifference brings ashes."
According to Ms. Pantelidou, the fires destroyed 26-27 buildings in Kirki. The cultural association launched an initiative to support fire-affected residents, raising awareness in the local community and collecting funds.
Mr. Panagiotidis's house is the first to be fully rebuilt in the area. The residents of Kirki continue their efforts to help other fire victims.
