Fire in Psychiko: Started from Transformer Explosion, Says Galatsi Mayor

A fire broke out in Psychiko, with the Mayor of Galatsi, Giorgos Markopoulos, stating that it was caused by a transformer explosion.

According to Mr. Markopoulos, speaking to OPEN, the fire started after an explosion in a transformer on Stratigou Iordanidi Street. The mayor emphasized the need to protect the area, mentioning that the mountain is at risk for the third time this year.

The fire quickly spread to dry grass and trees, approaching Alsos Veikou. 24 firefighters with 8 vehicles participated in the extinguishing operation.
