Fire in Kokori, Aitoloakarnania – Evacuation via 112

A fire broke out in agricultural and forest land in Kokori, Aitoloakarnania, on the afternoon of Saturday, August 2. The fire started under unclear circumstances around 17:15, north of the settlement of Kokori.

To extinguish the fire, 35 firefighters with 1 ground team from the 6th EMODE, 13 vehicles, 2 helicopters and 2 aircraft were mobilized. Local authority water trucks also provided assistance.

An evacuation message was sent from 112 at 17:50 to the residents of Evinochori and Kokori, urging them to evacuate towards Patras.

The message stated: "Forest fire in your area. If you are in the areas of #Evinochori & #Kokori evacuate towards #Patra. Follow the instructions of the Authorities."
