Wedding on Sappho's Island: Canadian Couple Married in Eresos

Meghan and Hannah, a couple from Canada, chose Eresos on Lesvos to hold their civil wedding. The ceremony took place on July 31, marking the second civil wedding of women to take place in the area.
Meghan Evelyn and Hannah Kelly expressed their enthusiasm for their choice, emphasizing the history and culture of Lesvos, as well as its spirit of tolerance. Meghan said it was the happiest day of her life, while Hannah referred to the historical significance of the island, linking it to Sappho, Theophilos, and Aristotle.
The ceremony was held with the support of the local registry office and the Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Afroditi Vati. Relatives and friends of the couple from Canada attended. The wedding organizer, Gavriela Vati, mentioned the increasing demand for same-sex weddings in Lesvos.
After the ceremony, a celebration followed with local flavors and gifts for the guests.
