Heroic Night Water Drop by Canadair in Keratea – Konstantellos Statement

The Mayor of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, Grigoris Konstantellos, spoke to ERT about the effort of the Air Force pilots who carried out night water drops in Keratea with Canadair aircraft.

According to Mr. Konstantellos, these drops were crucial in limiting the fire. He noted that night drops are unusual and require great skill.

The fire in Keratea broke out on Friday noon and was brought under control on Saturday. It spread over a radius of 7 kilometers in Eastern Attica, causing the death of one person and damage to homes.

Strong Fire Brigade forces and residents of the area assisted in the extinguishing efforts.
